Welcome to Double the Spoonfuls!
We're two sisters who created Double the Spoonfuls out of our obsession with trying, making, baking, and sharing as many sweet and savory eats as we can. Our blog is full of our unique meals and treats that are fun to make and eat, are easy, and are perfect for sharing with family and friends.
We are the recipe developers, food photographers, and blog writers here and we are so happy that you've found our blog. We're confident whether you're looking for a fun appetizer, a sweet treat, a refreshing drink, or any type of meal in between, there is something here that you'll love. A Little More About Us
A little more about us: We've lived in Massachusetts our whole lives and have had the opportunity to try some of the most delicious food in the New England area. Thanks to our parents, we've had the opportunity to try lots of amazing restaurants, and we've also loved exploring with friends, and practicing cooking local favorites! Our parents have also owned restaurants since we were little, with our mom as the cook in the restaurants' kitchens, so needless to say we've grown up eating some of the most delicious food. Our love for all things food quickly turned into our passion for cooking and baking!
Jackie: After high school I went to Providence College where I made it my mission to consume as much of the Providence food scene as possible, while cooking everything I could manage to in my dorm room. Since then, my obsession with cooking has only continued, and one of my greatest joys is creating recipes each week, trying out different ones from my cookbook collection, and continuing to try new restaurants with my husband, family, and friends. My favorite food is unquestionably parmesan cheese, and my husband and I are currently on a quest to try the best pizzas New England has to offer. Samantha is my younger sister and getting to work with her on our blog has been the best!
You'll find me on here recipe developing the savory recipes and the occasional sweet, photographing the Double the Spoonfuls recipes, and sharing little bits of my day on our Instagram stories!
Samantha: While when my older sister Jackie is given a choice she will always go for a slice of pizza or big bowl of pasta, I love a sweet treat, maybe picking an apple cider donut in the fall or baking up the best batch of chocolate chip cookies! I graduated from UMASS Amherst a few years ago, and have stayed local to New England too! I have always loved baking for our family and my friends, especially around the holidays. The day before Thanksgiving I'll be the one that you'll find in the kitchen baking up a blueberry, apple, and pumpkin pie! My favorite meal of the day is breakfast, and a good old bagel with cream cheese never gets old to me.
After baking with family and friends since I was little, you'll find me on here developing most of our sweet treat recipes. I love creating all types of desserts, and love writing about them too!
How Double the Spoonfuls Began
Like so much else, we have our parents to thank for the beginning of this blog! Truthfully Jackie was always hoping to have a food-related career, but could never think of something that would bring together her love for cooking (and eating 🙂 ) with a job that would be a good fit for her. This all changed when on Christmas of 2020 our parents gifted us two small artificial lights, and two backdrops. From that day on we started our Instagram, tried our hand at iPhone photography, created a small blog, enrolled in Foodtography school, bought our first DSLR camera, and the rest is history!

Who this Blog is for and Where to Start
We grew up learning to cook from our mom, our collection of cookbooks, and some of the incredible food bloggers who have been around for forever! When we were younger, recipes from those food bloggers came with us to family gatherings, parties, made their way into our homes to turn a dull Tuesday dinner into the best part of our day, and taught us how to expand our skills. We hope that our blog does that for you too, whether it helps you find that appetizer you've been looking for for game day, adds a new cozy pasta recipe to your dinner rotation, or inspires you to try something new!
